Many of the programmes reviewed here are very similar to the interventions we design and deliver through Venture Out. It would be great to see funding bodies and state departments get behind our work, and move away from an over reliance on prescription medication.
While the UK are certainly further down the line in terms of recognising the potential and benefits of outdoor programmes for improved mental health, we are hopefully not too far behind.
They could be describing our work:
‘Nature is the main ingredient of the programme with our facilitation and feedback session backing up their experience and embedding new belief systems’.
‘The project has a high outcome of improved mental health – such as mood, resilience, self efficacy, hopefulness linked to connection to nature’
